Minix NEO U1 Android 4K 60Hz console released

Minix, which is a well-known name in the home streaming TV console market, has released a new Mini NEO U1 that supports some cool features such as 4K at 60 Hz and 10-bit colour.
The Neo U1 comes with a Quad-core Corte A53 CPU that supports 64-bit and a Penta Core Mali 450 GPU. Mali 450 brings the much-needed support for 3840x2160,  or 4K resolution, at 60Hz. Amazon's latest Fire TV supports 4K resolution at 30Hz which be a disadvantage for enthusiasts.

The console supports 10-bit colour but we don’t have more details that that. Neo U1 targets people who are in need for an ultimate home entertainment media hub running Android 5.1.1 OS. Since this is not an Android TV-based console it will have a fully functional browser, something that most Android TV-based consoles lack.
The Neo U1 comes with three USB slots, microSD card reader, USB On The GO connector, Kensington lock and a power button. The back side of the U1 console is a microphone and headphone ports, HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2. There is a dedicated SPDIF and a 5V DCIN power connector and a Gigabit LAN port. The device also has MIracast support.
The quad-core Cortex A53 chip comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB eMMC 5.0 MLC storage. If you rely on Wi-Fi this new multimedia home entertainment console comes with a dual-band 2x2 MIMO ac Wi-Fi with internal and external antennas for superior reception.
The device has Bluetooth 4.1 and ships with Android Lolllipop 5.1 with Minix launcher. The device supports FOTA (Firmware-Over-The-Air) Update System to carry out manual updates or firmware installs. The U1 ships with an IRDA remote controller.

Minix is pitching the U1 for the entertainment to your living room including web browsing, stunning Ultra High-Definition video playback and real-time streaming.  It is also good to access to popular media player apps such as KODI, screencasting capability, local media playback via USB port, Internet radio and audio streaming services, Skype along with other VoIP services and Android gaming.
The Neo U1 will start selling next Friday December 4 and the company will offer the console SRP Inc. VAT: US$129.90, €129.90, £94.90. Minix can definitely give some of its competitors to run for their money.

Samsung Gear Fit2 now available for purchase in select markets worldwide

Samsung has announced that its Gear Fit2 fitness band is now available for purchase in select countries around the world. These include the US, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Australia. The company also said that the device "will gradually be launched around the globe."

As you might already know, official Gear Fit2 pre-orders went live shortly after the device was made official, while third party retailers like Amazon started taking pre-orders a few days later. As for price, the device carries a tag of $180.
The fitness band works with smartphones running Android OS 4.4 and above and having over 1.5GB RAM. Color options include black, blue, and pink.

You can now customize an Xbox One Controller through Microsoft

Along with the announcement of the newly designed Xbox One S, Microsoft has also announced Xbox Design Lab which will let you design an Xbox controller whichever way you’d with different color options for just about every button, trigger, joysticks and the D-pad.

Microsoft says there are over 8,000,000 possible combinations. There’s also the option for a custom engraving for whatever you want, maybe a Gamer tag.

The controllers that are being built for customers are the new updated ones that come bundled with the newly announced updated version of the Xbox One S. This new controller does feature some updates like Bluetooth range improvements and a grippy textured backside.

You can’t have a custom controller just yet as they won’t start shipping until September. But you can start designing your own controller and you can pre-order them starting today. The customized controllers are going for $80 a pop and toss in $10 more if you opt for the custom engraving.

LG G Watch and Moto 360 will not get Android Wear 2.0 update

This news doesn’t surprise us as it has almost been two years since the LG G Watch was released on June 25 2014 and the Moto 360 later that year. We don't have high hopes for the Samsung Gear Live to be updated either as it wasn't particularly the most popular Android Wear device.

The new Android Wear 2.0 update takes advantage of new features like GPS, Wi-Fi, internal speaker, and LTE, most of which are not available in the original wave of Android Wear watches since they weren’t built with them.

It’s unfortunate that these watches won’t be updated, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles. For the record, the TI-OMAP CPU in the Moto 360 was already obsolete when it was put in the Moto 360. Motorola needed to get rid of get surplus Galaxy Nexus CPUs somehow.

40% smaller Xbox One S arrives in August starting at $299

The much-anticipated and much-leaked slimmer version of the Xbox One console is now finally official. At E3 today Microsoft took the wraps off the Xbox One S, which is 40% smaller than the original Xbox One.
It has 4K support, however this doesn't mean you'll play any 4K games. Instead, this is all about you being able to watch high-res streams from Netflix and Amazon, or 4K Blu-Ray discs. On the other hand, HDR TV sets are supported too, and some games will do the HDR thing - first of which will be Gears of War 4.

The Xbox One S has a built-in power supply, so no more unsightly brick. The controller has been redesigned, now featuring textured grips and improved range. It will also connect to your PC via Bluetooth, so an adapter isn't needed anymore. This will be sold separately too, not just bundled with the console.

 

The Xbox One S will become available in August and there will be three storage capacities to choose from: 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB. The pricing will be $299, $349, and $399, respectively. The first one to launch will be the 2TB edition. The vertical stand for the console will cost $20.
On the other hand, next year (in the fall) Microsoft will launch a new Xbox, currently codenamed Project Scorpio. This will do 4K gaming and will support VR experiences as well. It will boast six teraflops of power, so you might want to think long and hard about buying the Xbox One S this year as opposed to just waiting another year for Scorpio.

Bethesda announces Fallout's Pip-Boy 3000 functional replica, only 5000 to be made

Fallout 4 was released last year and is still one of the most popular games on the market. It also came in a special Collector's Edition with a wearable Pip-Boy 3000 replica, which has a slot for your smartphone. Once you mount your smartphone (iOS or Android based) you could use the Pip-Boy on your hand instead of invoking the virtual one within the game. Cool, right?

Now, Bethesda will be making a limited edition of the Pip-Boy 3000 wearable, but a lot better than the one shipped with the game. The new Pip-Boy replica has its own screen, similar to the one within Fallout 4, and it runs own Pip-OS.

 

This new version of the Pip-Boy connects wirelessly to your smartphone and you can make calls, read messages and listen music from your Pip-Boy. All knobs and buttons work, and with the special Cosplay mode, you will be able to simulate some Fallout stuff.

 And when you keep this enhanced Pip-Boy replica on its stand, it can work as an alarm clock.

 

The Pip-Boy replica will be available in limited quantity of 5,000 units this November and is priced at $350. It will come in a Capsule Case tin box.
